Attached, detached, unmatched? Alternative partnerships beyond EU membership

International Summer School and Simulation Exercise 2017

Attached, detached, unmatched? Alternative partnerships beyond EU membership

This year's summer school took place in Brussels from 12 - 16 June 2017. Students from the EUCOPAS network were invited to participate to discuss different forms of partnership between the EU and third states with experts, practitioners and academics. We visited EU institutions and think tanks in order to see how decisions are made on the European level. This was followed by a two day Moot Court. The simulation exercise of the European Court of Justice focused on Alternative Partnership Agreements.

Students started to prepare from April on in interdisciplinary and international teams in order to defend their position at the Moot Court. The best teams received an award for their performance.

A new feature of this year's programme was a meet and greet with practitioners who work in Brussels. The students had the possibility to get personal and informal informations about the work in the area of politics, journalism and think tanks.
